Garage Boiler room

The garage - the pride of the householder, parking for our car and also a place for DIY or tool storage. It is a place where functionality exceeds aesthetics. What tiles should we choose for the garage to make it last for years?

Tiles for the garage - how to choose them?

When deciding on good quality garage tiles, you have to reckon with incurring considerable costs. For example, clinker is a more expensive proposition than technical stoneware. It is also important to remember that price does not always go hand in hand with quality and that what costs more is not necessarily better. Cheap tiles for the garage will also do the job, just make sure you check all the technical parameters of the tiles.

What colour of garage tiles?

For the garage, it is advisable to choose tiles in shades of grey. On such surfaces, smaller dirt or dust will not be so visible. Of course, the colour of the tiles for the garage is decisive for the colour scheme of the interiors or the colour scheme that matches the facade of the building.

Modern style houses require a grey stoneware or concrete imitation floor in the garage. It is also possible to contrast light tiles with a dark façade and vice versa. On the other hand, a garage located on a traditional-style property will look great with long and narrow woodgrain tiles.

At this point, it is worth mentioning that darker grouting should be used. A lighter colour will stain locally and be difficult to clean. A dark grout colour will last longer and look good as new.

What width of tiles for a garage?

For a garage, large tiles will be a better option. Although it is still common to see models presented in 30 x 30 cm, there is definitely an increasing interest in tiles made in larger formats - e.g. 60 x 120 cm or even 160 x 320 cm. If the tiles are laid close to each other, and a similar coloured grout is placed between them, we get the impression of a uniform surface, which further optically enlarges the room.
