Terrace
The terrace is an extension of the living room. It is a place of relaxation from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but it is exposed to the elements. It is important to bear this in mind when choosing patio tiles, as the wrong patio tiles can quickly become faded or damaged. Which tiles should you choose?
Check the structure and dimensions
If you are concerned about the aesthetic qualities of your patio, or if you want to visually enlarge the size of your patio, a rather interesting solution is to choose rectified terrace tiles. These are products with identical dimensions and even edges. In this case, a 2mm grout matching the colour of the tiles is sufficient to create the illusion of a large, uniform slab (the grout is hardly visible).
Until recently, square terrace tiles measuring 30 x 30 cm were predominant. Nowadays, however, developers are opting for larger tiles, as well as rectangular ones. It is not uncommon to find 60 x 120 cm tiles on your terrace.
Terrace tiles as an extension of the living room
Wondering which terrace tiles to choose? A rather interesting solution is to place the same or similar tiles on your terrace as you have in your living room. Why is this method gaining in popularity? Because it allows you to optically increase the space, opening up the living room beyond the perimeter of the house.
It's best to choose patio tiles from the same manufacturer - then you can be sure of the thickness, durability and other parameters of the tiles. We gain peace of mind and certainty that the material we choose will be colour-coordinated.
Choose tiles to match the style
If you keep your living room in a traditional, classic style - choose tiles with warm colours, such as beige or brown. Sierra Beige tiles will look beautiful on your terrace. The matte, structured surface with abrasion class IV is sure to catch the eye of your guests. If, on the other hand, you have decided on a modern style décor, reach for the dark grey shades offered by Sierra Antra-cite XXL tiles. First-grade structured porcelain stoneware in large 60 x 60 cm formats, despite their dark colour, will visually enlarge the terrace - especially if you lay them close together, using less grout. At this point, it is worth emphasising to opt for darker grout for terraces. Why? The terrace is a place exposed to the weather, sand and other dirt from the garden. Light-coloured grout is more difficult to keep spotlessly clean.
